As history, and the Bible reveals, the Lord God provides insights to times and days through the picture He paints in the numbers that make up the year and season. In the study of the scriptures, it is known as the Numerical Principle. Someone has truly said, “Strengthening to the believer’s heart is the subject of Spiritual arithmetic, as revealed in God’s Word.” Such a subject that One Supreme Mind must have been the author of all the books of the Bible. Each number and corresponding Hebrew letter carries special meaning and revelation from the heart of God. Therefore, each Hebrew year carries a significant message not only to the Jewish people but to us as Christians. Let us examine the message God is speaking to us in the Hebrew year 5784 which began at sunset on September 15, 2023 and will end at sunset on October 2, 2024 in which our Gregorian calendar falls within beginning in January 1, 2024. Let us have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying for the days ahead.
Before we examine the prophetic significance of 5784/2024, let us look at what the scriptures both in the Old and New Testaments say about the word “door.” The Principle of First Mention is key to understanding a word in scripture. Door is first mentioned in Genesis 4: 6- 7 where the LORD speaks to Cain after he refused to bring an acceptable offering: “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, it will lift. But if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the doorway. Its desire is for you, but you must master it.” God had already set the example of an acceptable sacrifice—a blood offering when He killed innocent animals (lambs) and made a covering for Adam and Eve after their disobedience. (Gen. 3: 21) Cain’s bloodless offering of the fruit of the ground was not acceptable to God as a truth that is set forth throughout scripture. “And nearly everything is purified in blood according to the Law, and apart from the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.” (Hebrews 9:22) The Lamb of God is the most constant type of the suffering Messiah from Genesis through Revelation. (Rev. 13:8) We see the first mention of both sin and door in this passage connected to a choice—faith taking God at His Word and obeying or rejecting God and His Divine way. The door was representative of the choice that all mankind must make.
The Second Mention of door is found in the account of the flood in Genesis 7: 1-16. God had instructed Noah how to build the Ark and it had only one door! (Gen. 6: 16) Noah who was perfect in his generations and his family along with every clean animal were instructed by God to “Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” God’s beckoning embraces the basic meanings of this gracious invitation occurring again and again in the Scriptures, even down to the last page. (Rev. 22: 17). Then, in 7: 16 we find the reference to the door after they entered that the LORD shut the door! There in the safety of the Ark, they escaped Divine judgment. The Ark is a type of Christ as the refuge of His people from judgment. Noah is used as an illustration of saving faith in Hebrew 11:7.
The Third Mention of door is found in Exodus 12: 7 where God commands the sacrifice of the Passover lamb and the blood applied upon the upper door post and the two side posts in order for the death angel to Passover the house and save the family. The Passover is a type of Christ—the lamb without spot and blemish. The blood must be applied without anything additional and constituted a perfect protection from judgment. The believer in Christ is saved by the blood of the Lamb.
It is made clear in the New Testament that Jesus is the Door. Jesus in the parable in John 10 reveals that He is the Good Shepherd—the only Door to the sheepfold—“I am the door of the sheep”—"if any man enter through the door, he will be saved.” Paul referred to God and all that He had done to open the door of faith to the Gentiles in Acts. 14: 27. James 5: 8-9 warns us that the judge (Christ) is standing at the door and His coming draws nigh. Jesus in Matthew 24: 32-35 warns of signs indicating that He is even at the door. When addressing the church at Philadelphia in Revelation 3: 8 Jesus speaks of the open door that no man can shut. To the end-time church Jesus declares in 3: 20: “Behold I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” The last mention of the church follows this verse. Then in 4:1 we see a door opened in heaven—the Door that ushers in true believers—the everlasting door (Ps. 24:7)—the door of hope (Hosea 2: 15).
The Bible reveals that God’s plan was always to have an open door between heaven and earth for His children as He visited Adam and Eve daily in the Garden before the fall. Jesus taught His disciples to pray: “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” God wants relationship with mankind and opened the door of heaven 2000 years ago to send His Son to earth so that whoever will trust Him as Savior will have everlasting life. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father praying and interceding for us with the Father waiting for His command to again open the door of heaven according to 1 Thess. 4: 14-16 when Jesus will appear from heaven to rapture His Bride to be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air—to be with the Lord forever!
According to the Hebraic meaning of 5784 God is opening a door of Divine reset and restoration—the door into a deeper relationship with Him. May the Lord guide us into a season of radical realignment and awakening both personally and corporately. Just as this ancient door or portal has remained closed for many years, so too have areas within our lives, in the Church, in America and Israel and all the nations of the world. Let us unlock the meaning of 5784.
The Hebrew Letter Hey (5) pictures a person standing with arms raised and points to revelation and manifestation and has symbolic significance associated with divine revelation and the presence of God. The Hebrew Letter Zayin (7) pictures a sword or plowshare. It signifies cutting away and separation and is often associated with completeness, perfection, and wholeness. As the year progresses, there will be a spirit of pruning and refining. God desires to cut off old mindsets, toxic relationships, and sinful habits that opposes Him and that have held us back. We must say “yes” to realignment and allow our heart to surge with anticipation for revival and awakening! The Master Craftsman is reshaping His vessels for a greater purpose. Say “yes” to being molded into Christ’s image yielding to the Potter’s hands. We must set our sights on the realm of renewal, but we must first walk through the door of deeper surrender, alignment, and transformation. The Hebrew Letter Chet (8) is illustrated as a fence or enclosure and the number is often associated with new beginnings and renewal. This is a year of new heavenly perspective and divine wisdom being released upon us. Prov. 2: 6 says “For the LORD giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” It is a time to listen for God’s voice. We must ask and we will receive all we need to partner with God’s plans. The Hebrew Letter Dalet (4) is pictured as a tent door. The number 4 is deeply connected with the material realm, representing physical completion and fullness—a restoration of all that is broken and a greater stability and order established by God’s hand. We must ask for vision to understand the larger tapestry God is weaving and the chaos will give way to strategic order. This is a year for heaven’s manifestation on earth in extraordinary ways according to Acts 2: 15-21 spoken by the prophet Joel in the last days when God will pour His Spirit—wonders, signs, miracles, dreams and visions and many being saved. The number 4 points to a journey through an open door into new adventures and possibilities in 5784—a doorway into breakthroughs, freedom, and blessing! God is calling us to step into the fullness of His plans and promises. How does the year 2024 relate to Christians? Let’s dissect the numbers: 2 + 2 = 4 + 4 = 8—the number of new beginnings! As Christians, God says He is doing a new thing and it will spring up, and He will make a way in the wilderness, and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43: 19) With this, we must not focus on the physical door, which is prosperity, increase, wealth, etc. Our focus should be on the spiritual door to a right relationship with God and others. Also, consider 2024 = 10 x 2; 10 x 2 + 4 = Courts are seated, and judgment pronounced; pray, worship, receive, the door, tent door, poor (in spirit), choice, humility, paths to new beginnings open up to those who walk in humility! The eyes of the Lord scan the horizon eagerly for that which He loves most—communion with His children. He sees beyond our failings to the destiny for which we were created. His delight over us is unending. Will we walk in wholehearted devotion as He leads us to greater wholeness? THE DOOR IS OPEN—ARE YOU READY? This is YOUR YEAR! Though changes will come, God remains constant by our side! Let us abide in the shelter of His wings. He will lead us into places of influence we never dreamed possible. Let us take courage, take His hand, and step forward boldly through the open door! “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come—let the one who wishes freely take the water of life?” (Revelation 22: 17) Let us meditate on Psalm 24 throughout 2024 and allow God to encourage us with His words.
