Traditional prophecy teachers have questioned for years whether or not America is in the Bible. The word “providential” describes a nation or person raised up by Divine utterance or mandate. The prophet Daniel said, “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever…(f0r) He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings.” (Daniel 2: 20-21) The founding fathers have made it clear that America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and leaned heavily on the Scripture to form the new nation of the United States of America. Although some of the nations that have risen and fallen throughout history can be seen as either good or evil, most of these nations have been a combination of both. No nation in history has established a government that fully reflects the ordinances of God’s spiritual kingdom. However, when a nation does embrace the ordinances of God, it invokes His benefits to help that nation fight evil. Second only to Israel, American embraced God’s ordinances within the nations’ Constitution. Solomon reminds us in Ecclesiastes 1:9 that everything that happens has happened before; nothing is new, nothing under the sun. In the Bible we see the requirements for God’s blessings and likewise for judgment upon a nation. There are parallels between America and the nation of Israel that gives us a Divine perspective on what is happening today in the battle for the soul of our nation.
Israel had a glorious heritage in the Promised Land. God had done a miracle for Israel. By the power of God, she had been freed from tyranny and slavery in Egypt. God had given them liberty and freedom like God has given the United States of America. God had given Himself—they had a Lord; they had a land; God had given them His commandments; they had a law. But they denied the Lord; they defied the law; they defiled the land. God had to bring judgment to these people who had been blessed so much! There is a striking parallel to America. God has blessed this nation. No nation ever had such a Christian beginning as America; and yet, America must admit that we have fallen from its place of glory and blessing. Let us look at the cycle of these nations:
Glorious conquest and blessings: God blessed both Israel and America with a nation and a land and both nations with a glorious beginning. The nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land. Judges 1: 1-2 says: “After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites to fight against them? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up, behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.” George Washington, the father of America, when he was inaugurated, read from the Bible. He took his oath of office with his hand upon the Bible, and then, he leaned down and kissed the pages of God’s Word. His first official act was to take the entire Senate and the House of Representatives to church and they stayed there for a two-hour worship service. George Washington addressed them and said this: “It would be peculiarly improper to admit, in this first official act, my fervent supplication to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe, who presides in the councils of nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that His benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the people of the United States. No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of man more than the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency.” Gradual Compromise: There were days of gradual compromise in Israel as they forgot their heritage. “And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.” (Judges 2:10) Since 1962, secular humanists have fought vehemently to take the Bible out of the education system, prayer out of the classroom, God out of government, and Judeo-Christian moral values out of our society entirely. We have taught grade school children that they come from monkeys and wonder why they grow up to act like animals. Senseless mass shootings, total disregard for others, drug addiction, and an immoral society that has no limits for sexual promiscuity; all these things have led to a confused generation, unhinged from any consciousness of the golden rule, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them.” (Mt. 7:12) Instead of the church influencing society with the word of God, it appears that society has influenced the church and there is a falling away or apostasy within the church. Satan’s ideology always opposes the authority of God’s word and especially those who follow it. The Bible does not mention the term “culture wars” but it discusses distinct spiritual kingdoms battling on earth, each kingdom opposing the other solely on the basis of its acceptance or rejection of God’s word. These are God’s kingdom of light and knowledge and Satan’s kingdom of darkness and ignorance. The Bible says Satan continually opposes the authority of the word as well as “those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” (Rev. 12: 17) Grim Consequences. The key verse is Judges 17:6 “…every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” There was no fixed standard of right and wrong. Isaiah describes the condition in 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.” Judges 2: 3-4 lays out the consequences for opposing God: “So now I say, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you. When the Angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the Israelites, the people lifted up their voice and wept.” There is a battle raging over the soul of America. Most people believe the battle is an economic battle between socialism and capitalism, or a political battle between Democrats and Republicans. But according to Scripture, it is a battle between staying in covenant with God and His ordinances or walking away from the concept of “One Nation Under God.” On one side are Conservatives, who lean towards America’s founding fathers and the Judeo-Christian principles on which America was founded. On the other are Progressives who don’t believe that God has anything to do with their blessings. They don’t want God, the Ten Commandments, or prayer in school or government. In fact, they even want to monitor our speech to prevent the name of God from being mentioned in public places. A recent Gallop Poll surveyed Americans comparing their opinions and views in 2002 to 2023. Here are some of the results: 1. How important would you say religion is in your own life? Very important—2002—60%, 2023—23%; Fairly important—2002—27%, 2023—26%, Not Very Important—2002—13%, 2023—28%. 2. At the present time, do you think religion as a whole is increasing its influence on American life or losing its influence? Increasing Influence—2002—46%, 2023—22%; Losing Influence—2002—46%, 2023—75%. 3. Which of the following statements comes closest to describing your belief? 2023: You are religious—47%, Spiritual but not religious—33%, Neither—18%. 4. Would you describe yourself as a born-again or evangelical Christian? 2002—Yes—46%, No—49%; 2022—Yes—32%, No—66%. Fear has replaced faith in North American culture as there is an undeniable fear of man if they do not follow the herd of modern liberalism. We will be falsely accused of a multitude of phobias if we do not agree and comply with liberal agendas. Specific terminology and name-calling are used to intimidate dissenters and create fear of man. Here are some examples: Islamophobic-if you disapprove of Islamic terrorism; Homophobic-if you disagree with current LGBTQ ideologies; Xenophobic-if you disagree with open-door immigration policies; War on Women—if you stand up for the life of the unborn; Non-inclusive or narrow-minded—if you believe Jesus is the only way to heaven. Turn back to God. As long as there is God there is hope! We are to repent and seek His face. Judges 2:16 gives us courage and hope: “But the LORD raised up judges, who delivered them out of the hands of those who robbed them.” We are seeing this happen now! PTL! God had rather forgive than judge; God had rather save than condemn. The word “judge” literally comes from a root word which means, “to save,” or “to rescue.” Jesus did not come to the world to condemn the world, but to save the world. (John 3: 17) When God releases a prophetic warning to a nation, it is never sent to put us down—it only comes to set us free. God has protected America these 248 years and we have sung: “Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light. Protect us by Thy might, Great God our King.” (Samuel Francis Smith) I believe that God is sounding a wake-up and warning alarm that He is grieved over what has transpired in this nation and it is time to seek His will, His ways and His power so that He can heal our land and return to the rally cry of Patrick Henry who lit the flame that began the American Revolution on March 23, 1775 when he said, “Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased with the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God. I know to what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death.” He also said: “It cannot be emphasized too much or repeated too strongly that America was founded not by religionists but by Christians; not upon religions, but upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
God awakened me on Sunday morning after the tragedy and violent attack upon President Donald J. Trump with the reality that America has come full circle returning to the battle cry of Patrick Henry and the most well-known reference to “The Shot Heard Round the World” at the opening battle of the American Revolutionary War. It was a call to stand with God and Country. Likewise, the attempted assassination of our former president—a man who like Patrick Henry declares “Give me liberty or give me death” was also the shot heard around the world! God has called this man—not a perfect man but neither was King David to be used to sound the alarm to stand firm in our commitment to God—His Truth, His Ways, His Justice so that we can finish the covenant upon which the nation was founded—One Nation, Under God, Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all! I believe God allowed the shooting to occur in Pennsylvania for significant reasons as Pennsylvania’s history is deeply intertwined with the history of America. Pennsylvania was the 1st Quaker colony founded by William Penn in 1682—342 years ago! It was one of the original colonies and played a significant role in the American Revolution as it was the site of the first and second Continental Congresses. Pennsylvania is the site of the Battle of Gettysburg which was the turning point in the American Civil War. It is the home of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell! God is saying—“Do you hear me America?” Also, I believe that Pennsylvania’s history is deeply intertwined with the history of the Church! In Jesus’ message to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3, the church at Philadelphia was the church counted “worthy to escape” the coming tribulation. (Rev. 3:8-11) The church at Philadelphia is different from all the other churches mentioned. These believers were not influenced by worldly views of secular humanism and pagan morality such as witchcraft, drug abuse, or the shedding of innocent blood; they were wise stewards of God’s financial blessings demonstrating honesty and care towards other people, and in so doing put God first in their lives and overcame many of the sins into which the other six churches had fallen. The Church at Philadelphia followed God’s Word and because of this, they were rewarded with an “open door” that no man can shut. (Rev. 3: 10) The Hebrew meaning for 2024 is the year of the Open Door! God’s prophetic time-clock is saying loud and clear: “Come back to Me, America—Church get ready I am coming back for you.” Read Psalm 37 and rest in its promises at such a time as this! God is not through with America—the best is yet to come! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
