In recent years the term “conspiracy theory” has been commonplace in the news media. It has been labeled by them as false information and passed off as myth. As believers we must go back to our Source for answers in this and all matters. Actually, the Bible, the Word of God and the foundation of all knowledge, has much to say about secret and evil plots by wicked like-minded individuals who wish to thwart the plans and purposes of God Almighty. As in all things, the saints of the Most High God are advised to let Scripture inform us on everything we think, say and do. Biblical conspiracies are depicted throughout Scripture as secret plots or agreements to commit unlawful or harmful acts, often involving betrayal, rebellion, or violence against God’s authority or His anointed leaders. Paul in I Thessalonians 5: 21-23 sets the foundation for our study, “Do not spurn the gifts and utterances of the prophets (do not depreciate prophetic revelations nor despise inspired instruction or exhortation or warning). But test and prove all things (until you can recognize) what is good; (to that) hold fast. Abstain from evil (shrink from it and keep aloof from it) in whatever form or whatever kind it may be.” From Genesis throughout the Bible and culminating in Revelation God commands believers to test the spirits. The 1st Epistle of John 4: 1-3 warns us, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God; Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is in the world.” We must view conspiracy agendas from God’s viewpoint so that we will not be deceived or led astray. The Bible acknowledges real conspiracies but calls believers to trust in God’s sovereignty, reject fear-based reactions, and live with integrity in these days of great deceptions!

Let us search the scriptures so that we can better understand the on-going rebellion, plots, unlawful or harmful acts, betrayals and violence against God’s authority and His anointed leaders. We must begin in Genesis as we read that “In the beginning God created heaven and earth.” Then in verse 2 we read, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep…” The scripture gives no data for determining how long ago the universe was created but we do know that scripture reveals that according to 1 John 1:5, “This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.” Darkness in biblical context represents sin, ignorance, evil, and separation from God. Therefore, this verse affirms that God is completely free from sin, evil, deception, or moral imperfection. The two Hebrew words for “without form and void” are “tohu and bohu.” The word “tohu” is a noun and refers in the Bible to the dragon (Leviathan) causing chaos. The word “bohu” is a noun that refers in the Bible to the beast (Behemoth) that brings destruction. Both of these words connect to the dragon—Satan (Revelation 12) and beasts of—Antichrist and False Prophet of Revelation 13 which was the text of our pastor’s sermon on Sunday connecting the conspiracy from the beginning to the end of the Bible. The prophets Isaiah in Chapter 14 and Ezekiel in Chapter 28 describe the origin of Lucifer and his rebellion against God. So, we see here in the first two verses of the Bible a conspiracy or game plan between darkness and light. In the remainder of verses 2-3 we read, “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, and God said, Let there be light; and there was light.” We see God’s Spirit of Light overcoming the darkness. It was in Genesis 3:15 that God declared victory over the serpent as his head would be crushed under the feet of the seed of the woman (Jesus). Psalm 104: 30-31 says, “Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created; and thou renewest the face of the earth. The glory of the LORD shall endure forever; the LORD shall rejoice in His works.” God makes it very clear that His Divine plan for mankind will not be thwarted even when conspiracies succeed temporarily, God remains sovereign, using them to fulfill His redemptive plan. God has and will bring order out of chaos! We read in Acts 2: 23-24, “This Jesus, when delivered up according to the definite and fixed purpose and settled plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and put out of the way (killing Him) by the hands of lawless and wicked men. BUT GOD raised Him up, liberating Him from the pangs of death, seeing that it was not possible for Him to continue to be controlled or retained by it.”

God’s eternal plan will prevail and has not changed and neither has the conspiracy agendas of Lucifer who became Satan, God’s adversary. Thousands of years ago Scripture predicted the things we are seeing now that would occur in the end times as a precursor to the second coming of Christ. Let us not forget the fact that as long as humans have been on earth, Satan has formed groups and conceived plans to consolidate resources and riches in order to rule over God’s creation, forcefully, if necessary, all for the love of money, power and sexual gratification. It was true when the Bible was written, and it is true today because human nature with its greed, lust for power, covetous tendencies and need for sensual gratification has never changed from then until now. There is nothing new under the sun, for that which has been before will be again as Solomon the wise preacher informs us in the Book of Ecclesiastes. The notion that governments and many other organizations are always open and transparent with the people that they claim to represent or oversee is a belief only for the naïve and ignorant. If this were so, then, why do governments possess “intelligence agencies” and why do secret organizations exist with elaborate initiation rituals or whose membership is reserved only for certain classes of people? The conspiracy agenda can be clearly seen on the reverse side of our one-dollar bill written in Latin—Novus ordo seclorum—“A new order of the ages” that appears under the unfinished Egyptian pyramid and all-seeing eye of the Egyptian god Horus. It is hidden in plain sight!

Today as we face what sometimes seems to be impossible situations and conspiracies against God’s people, it is important that we go back through Scripture and examine past victories to build our courage that God has a plan and He is in control. It has been 2000 years since Jesus died on the Cross, was resurrected from the dead; ascended into heaven; sent His Holy Spirit to birth the Church; is seated at the right hand of God the Father interceding for all those who have entered through Him into God’s family; and will return for the Church in the Rapture and return with the Church in judgment of this world! The first Adam laid down his staff of dominion upon this earth when he sinned. (Romans 5: 12) The last Adam laid down His life for the sin of the whole world (1 Cor. 15: 45) and took up His staff as the Shepherd—“Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4) Now you and I as believers must take up Christ’s staff of authority to stop chaos as members of God’s army clothed in His armor and empowered by His Spirit. Let us glean strategies from God’s Word as God’s warriors in this spiritual battle! We are called to be salt and light—to expose evil and live the lifestyle of Christians!

In Genesis 4: 3-10 we have the account of conspiracy against God’s plan in the account of Cain and Abel. It is apparent that God had made clear to Adam and Eve and to their children what kind of sacrifice was pleasing to Him. Abel brought a blood sacrifice from his flock which was pleasing to God, but Cain brought a sacrifice from his produce and was not acceptable. We see in Genesis 3: 21 where God killed animals (lambs?) and made a covering for them after they sinned that replaced their covering of fig leaves. Cain’s offering was therefore unacceptable to God, and he became angry, indignant, dejected and depressed. These resulted from his disobedience to God and are manifestations of the devil. It is apparent that he was led by his father the devil as he took vengeance out upon his brother and committed the world’s first homicide—another manifestation of his father the devil who was a murderer from the beginning. God confronted him with his sin—What have you done? Cain lied to God as his father is a liar. God called him to judgment over his sin and said, “The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground.” We need to consider two scriptures that shed light on the blood. In Leviticus 17:11 we read, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.” Then in Hebrews 9:22 we read, “Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” Cain was from the wicked one. Why was Abel’s actions righteous? Because God was pleased with the blood sacrifice he presented to him pointing to the blood of Christ that makes us a child of God! Satan’s counterfeit is to shed blood for his sacrifice through murder of the innocent. We must take a stand for life and against the shedding of innocent blood today and claim the blood of Jesus over our families, community, state and nation as Satan is a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour!

Not long after that, Nimrod and his followers rose up and attempted to take charge of the ancient world and challenge God’s authority. A short time later, rebellious humans built the first city-state to consolidate power and to oppose God’s rule in Genesis 10: 8-9, 11: 3-9. From the golden calf in Exodus 32 to the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18, the pattern is consistent: introduce a substitute for the true God which was Lucifer’s intent—to be like God! Scriptures actually use such terms as “secret plots,” “crafty counsel,” “a sinister scheme,” “devised schemes,’ and even “conspiracy” to describe the plans of evil to thwart the Word and will of the Creator culminating in the greatest conspiracy against the Son of God: “Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and plotted to take Jesus by trickery and kill Him. (Matt 26:3–4) “When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death. (Matt 27:1) Jesus’ resurrection was a true and total defeat of death and Satan’s agenda. The triumphant, risen Christ said, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Rev. 1: 18) His victory dismantles Satan’s power, removes condemnation, and offers eternal hope to those who believe and trust Him as Savior!

Recently, I learned that 40% of professing Christians today say they believe in God but do not believe in Satan or his adversaries. They may recognize “good” and “evil” in the world, but they refuse to acknowledge the truths of God’s Word when we’re warned and taught about the wiles of our enemy. The truth is, from Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals a real and active adversary working behind the scenes of human history. His strategy is ancient, and his goal is deadly. (1 Peter 5: 8) There’s a spiritual war raging in the heavenlies and being manifested in the physical realm here on earth—and it’s a war for the very souls of men, women and children. Our adversary, the devil, is thirsty for blood. He and his fallen angels and demons hate mankind because they know that unlike human beings, they’re beyond redemption. There’s no salvation available to them. They know their end will be torment in the lake of fire. Satan’s conspiracy agenda has not changed as he seeks to bring chaos and destruction to all God’s creation—especially to change mankind into his image to worship him using whatever method he can—even seeking to alter our DNA through various means, putting implants into our bodies, merging man with machines, confusion of gender and capturing the minds and bodies of our children. The good news is that Satan is not equal to God, he’s a created being, his power is permitted for now but not absolute. As Christians, our security rests not in personal ability, but in Divine promise. Jesus declared, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.” (Jn. 10:28) “Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15: 57) We are soldiers in God’s army chosen to do His bidding at such a time as this. The Word of God is our anchor! The Holy Spirit of God is our Counselor and Guide. The Son of God is with us and for us and goes before us in this battle! The battle is the Lord’s!

We have read the end of the Book and we know that GOD WINS! The dragon Satan, the beasts Antichrist and the False Prophet will be tormented day and night forever and ever! God told us the end from the beginning and He will again bring order out of chaos and create a new heaven and earth for those transformed into His image by His Spirit—“and they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads…the Lord God giveth them light; and they shall reign forever and ever.” (Rev. 22: 4-5) The best is yet to come: “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” AMEN
